Virgo mythology, i.e., the mythology of Virgo the Virgin, sixth among 12 zodiac signs belongs to Astraea, the daughter of Zeus and Themis. Virgo is not an animal-shaped constellation, rather it represents the shape of the goddess of virtue in the sky looking toward the earth to be virtuous enough for her to descend down and live in peace.
According to Greek mythology during the Golden Age under Titan rule, gods lived with humans together on earth. But as the Olympian era began, the equations started changing with gods assuming a role superior to that assigned to the humans. Zeus was their ruler who treated humans with a rather demeaning scorn.
Prometheus was a Titan who sided with humans organizing them against Zeus. He stole the Olympian fire and handed it over to the humans. Zeus imprisoned Prometheus on the top of Caucasus Mountains. Then he sent down Pandora with her infamous Pandora's Box filled with all the evil demons, which we know as negative emotions today.
Pandora opened her box and unleashed all the demons on earth. All the gods immediately left the earth for their home in Olympus, but Astraea, the daughter of Zeus and Themis, was so much in love with earth that she waited till the end before everyone else had left.
In the end, Astraea also had to leave very unwillingly since the earth was filled with demons all around. But she left her heart here only and, being the goddess of virtue, saved her place in the constellation of Virgo; from where she always keeps peeping down every night to check if the demons on earth are yet out or not... so she may come back to her dreamland again!
