Tarot readings through tarot cards in different tarot spreads are based on the belief that they can be used to interpret the subject's current and future disposition as in-sighted by a spiritual force or else through tapping into their collective unconscious, the cards acting as the symbols of the unconscious reality.

These symbols have kept evolving over a long period of time. They seem to have a connection with Kabbalah and Alchemy. They are pictorial in their representation, the pictures generally being from the animate world and each one of them reveals a new truth into the depths of the unconscious reality.

The Minor Arcana is a pack of cards very similar to the normal playing cards with Ace to Ten along with four face cards comprising Page, Knight, Queen, and King - one in each suit. The four suits - Pentagrams, Swords, Wands and Cups - successively correspond to four Alchemical Elements - Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Face cards also correspond to the elements, the Page to Earth, the Knight to Air, the Queen to Water and the King to Fire. So if a face card comes from a suit of the same correspondence, it multiplies its strength manifolds.

The Major Arcana is a little different set of cards twenty two in number from zero to twenty one without any suit attached to them. The symbols made on these cards are said to peep deep inside the spiritual journey of a person.

The tarot cards are read through spreading them in any one of the many common tarot spreads named Celtic Cross, Horse-shoe, 3-card Spread, Astrological Spread, 1-card spread, Tetractys, Star Spread and The Mirror Spread; depending on the personal preferences of different tarot readers into their unique tarot readings.
