Capricorn Mythology, i.e., the mythology of Capricorn the Sea Goat, 10th among 12 zodiac signs addresses Bacchus and the earthborn giant Typhoeus describing how Bacchus saved Jupiter from being torn into pieces at the hands of Typhoeus.

According to the myth, as the giant Typhoeus suddenly appeared on earth, he tried to make horrible efforts to tear Jupiter into pieces and turn him out of existence.

As it happened that Bacchus witnessed Typhoeus, he was feasting on the banks of the river Nile at that time. He didn't waste time and jumped into the river. As he did, the part of his body submerged in the river turned into that of a fish. The rest of the body turned a goat.

The moment Bacchus turned a sea goat; he could visualize what Typhoeus was going to do with Jupiter. He immediately blew a shrill note on his pipes. As Typhoeus heard the warning notes alerting Jupiter, he immediately fled out of the scene and hid himself in obscurity.

As a gesture of thanks, Jupiter placed the new sea goat shape of Bacchus as a constellation in the heavens. And the constellation has stayed there since antiquity.

This is how the Capricorn Mythology, i.e., the mythology of Capricorn the Sea Goat, 10th among 12 zodiac signs goes according to what the legend says. The constellation lies between those of Aquarius and Sagittarius low on the southern horizon.
